Henrikh Mkhitaryan Urges Arsene Wenger to Try New Arsenal Formation

January signing Henrikh Mkhitaryan believes he has the solution to Arsene Wenger's selection headache over how to fit all his stars into the Arsenal line-up.

Mkhitaryan was joined by Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in signing for Arsenal last month, as part of a deal that saw Alexis Sanchez move to Manchester United.

Both the Armenian forward and Aubameyang have eased into life at the Emirates Stadium, raising questions over how Wenger will fit both him and Ozil into the team. Mkhitaryan thinks he may have the answer.

"Some people are saying we cannot play together, but I can't understand these people that are saying that," Mkhitaryan told ESPN FC. "I'm just enjoying playing with Mesut and he's an amazing football player.

"I'm getting better playing with him, everyone knows his skills, abilities, so why not? Everything is possible, why not have two number 10s on a pitch?"

Mkhitaryan has been reunited with Aubameyang, having formed a partnership with him at Borussia Dortmund from 2013 through 2016. Mkhitaryan, then the Bundesliga footballer of the year, left for Manchester United but struggled Jose Mourinho.

"In the last year I played in Dortmund with [now Liverpool manager Jurgen] Klopp, Dortmund was playing very good football and I think it seems to be a bit similar comparing Arsenal to Dortmund," Mkhitaryan added.

"I'm very happy to be here. I get pleasure playing offensive football and being part of Arsenal."

Mkhitaryan could feature in the Arsenal team that faces Ostersund in the second leg of their Europa League round of 32 match on Thursday (February 22), having won the first leg 3-0. Ozil will remain in London as Wenger says he is recovering from an illness.

While Mkhitaryan believes Wenger can choose both players for his team, when they travel to Wembley Stadium on Sunday for the League Cup final he may not have the choice of either.

Mkhitaryan is cup-tied having represented Manchester United in the competition at an earlier stage, while Ozil is struggling to recover from his illness.

"Mesut was sick, today was his first training session [back]," Wenger said on Wednesday.

"His immune system is in a bit of trouble at the moment and I don't know why. He will have to work hard and he will not be involved against Ostersunds."

So Wenger will be hoping Ozil can recover for the match against Pep Guardiola's Manchester City on Sunday by remaining in London.
