Is Eden Hazard On His Way out Of Chelsea? Star Man Rejects Contract

Eden Hazard has rejected a renewed contract offer from Chelsea as he waits on interest from Real Madrid, his father has said according to reports.

Hazard has continually proved to be Chelsea's best player since he joined the club in 2012 from Lille, attracting interest from some of Europe's biggest clubs. But it seems one in particular has stood out.

Hazard's father, Thierry, told Belgian media that his son was holding out for a move to the Santiago Bernabeu. "Eden refused an extension of his contract to be able, if necessary, to follow the interest of Real," he said.

According to The Times, there isn't panic at Chelsea about the future of Hazard as he still has two-and-a-half years left on his contract at Stamford Bridge and a formal offer is yet to be made.

But at the age of 26, Hazard is approaching the peak of his career. He is admired by Real Madrid's manager Zinedine Zidane, who was Hazard's favorite player during his childhood.

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte is also worried about the uncertainty surrounding his best player leaving. "It's very important to try to improve your team and not to sell the best players," he said.

Conte was also asked about contract talks with Hazard. "This is a private conversation between the club and the player, and the agent of the player," he said.

"I'm proud to have him in my team, in my squad, and I'm very happy to work with him. He's a really good guy."

Conte highlighted the element of Hazard's game that is slightly lacking, having scored just five goals in 17 games.

"He has a lot of space for improvement, to become one of the best players in the world," the Italian said. "He could score more. That is an aspect he can improve. When you are a striker or a No 10, your speciality must be to score."

Chelsea are third in the Premier League table and one point behind Manchester United in second place. Conte's team host Stoke City at Stamford Bridge on Saturday (December 30) with the visitors losing their last three games.
